2010 ScienceFest Celebration

The College of Sciences invites you to attend it’s 15th annual ScienceFest celebration which highlights the accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate research, faculty mentoring, and faculty teaching, research, and service on Friday, March 26, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the University Ballroom of the MLK Jr. Union.

This year's theme is Teaching and Learning: Integration of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

The afternoon will begin with a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Linda Ghent, chair of the department of economics on "The Art and Science of Sound” at 1:05 p.m., featuring Dr. Emily Tobey, professor and Nellie C. Johnson Chair; Callier Advanced Hearing Research Center, University of Texas at Dallas; Dr. Steve Daniels, professor and chair, Physics; Dr. John Martone, professor, English; and Mr. Mark Rubel, instructor and audio director, Music.

At 2:00 p.m., attendees can attend a browsing session of undergraduate and graduate students' research posters.

Mary Anne Hanner, dean of the EIU College of Sciences, will present the State of the College address at 3:00 p.m., followed by the College of Sciences Student Advisory Board's report on their technology recycling initiative at 3:20 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m., awards will be presented for excellence in the College of Sciences, including honors for undergraduate and graduate research; faculty mentoring; and faculty teaching, research and service.
