The College of Sciences invites you to attend its annual ScienceFest celebration which highlights the accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate research, faculty mentoring, and faculty teaching, research, and service on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the University Ballroom of the MLK Jr. Union. Please join in celebrating success of students and faculty in the College of Sciences at ScienceFest 2011!
This year's theme is "Renewable Energy: Powering the 21st Century and Beyond".
The afternoon will begin with a mini sumposium on renewable energy moderated by Gary Bulla, Department of Biological Sciences at 12:35 p.m., featuring Chris Laingen, Department of Geology-Geography; Mr. Dennis Evers, VOW Resources; Eric Rund, Agtivities International; and Dan Johnson, Department of Biological Sciences.
At 1:40 p.m., attendees can attend a browing session of undergraduate and graduate students' research posters.
Mary Anne Hanner, Dean of the College of Sciences, will present the State of the College Address at 2:30 p.m., followed by the Student Advisory Board's report on their energy consumption at EIU initiative at 2:45 p.m.
At 3:15 p.m., awards will be presented for excellence in the College of Sciences, including honors for undergraduate and graduate research, faculty mentoring, and faculty teaching, research and service.
